You may have noticed my absence of blog posts this spring. That’s because you can’t blog when you’re patrolling the lesser-known nooks and crannies of a high school, walkie-talkie in hand, pursuing a defiant teenager like Zaroff in Самая опасная игра (shout out to my English teachers!).

I’ve been clipping away on the second book, and it’s almost finished. Box Wine and I are planning the party to end all parties once that bad boy goes up on TpT…that’s when the truly quality blog posts will start.

В это время, I’ve got a really, really, really cool final exam posted on the website. Jenny and I are having the Fellas play an Interpersonal Skills Escape Room game (which I wrote) as part of the final exam this semester. We’ll be assessing them using the E2E Teamwork Rubric (which we’ve been using throughout the year for ongoing formative assessment). The guys are still going to complete the usual written self-reflection, but I am ridiculously giddy to add this game as part of the exam.

Прежде всего, the Fellas love to play games, and I’m excited that they get to do something they love to do as part of the exam. Второй, this is a chance for them to apply all the social skills we’ve practiced all year long during (gasp) actual human interaction. Since we’ve been assessing other social activities using the same rubric, we’ll be able to get a good snapshot of where progress has been made…and where work still needs to be done next year. Как я и сказал…I AM SO EXCITED TO DO THIS ESCAPE ROOM!

Although this escape room is specific to our classroom, you could revise what I’ve created here for your own social skills class.

Hang in there, fellow professionals, and remember that summer’s almost here. My summer plans involve lying to everyone I meet and telling them that I’m a real estate agent from Boca and that I’ve never even heard the word “teenager.”
