Kids who are just about adults. Kids who are going to graduate. But they missed a step somewhere along the way, and they don’t have the foundation to write an essay or read a novel effectively. We can blame the pandemic. We can blame TikTok. We can blame crappy parenting. We can blame the irrelevant curriculum. It doesn’t really matter if they won’t or can’t or just don’t feel like it. They’re not doing it. I don’t know about you, but if giving a kid access to an audiobook or an outline with embedded questions for an essay gets them moving, I say that’s a lot better than standing still.
